Area of Emphasis

Aimee Scott is an associate in the Energy & Natural Resources and Business Services Groups of Babst Calland. Ms. Scott’s practice includes general corporate and real estate transactions.  She also concentrates on natural resources and energy issues, and has experience with issues concerning oil and gas well development, including title analysis and land use permitting for Marcellus Shale developers. 

Background

Prior to joining Babst Calland, Ms. Scott practiced as a corporate associate in the Pittsburgh office of a national law firm.  While in law school, she spent three years working in the law department of the corporate headquarters of a national retailer, where she examined commercial leases and drafted ancillary lease agreements.  During college, Ms. Scott worked for a title company preparing title insurance policies.

Ms. Scott graduated summa cum laude from Ohio University in 2004, earning a Bachelors of Arts as a double major in economics and political science.  While in college, she spent a year studying at Oxford University in Oxford, England.  She was selected for membership in Phi Beta Kappa and authored an Honors Thesis titled “Tackling America’s Declining Social Capital: How Microenterprise Builds Communities.”  Ms. Scott earned her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2007, where she graduated cum laude.   While in law school, she served as lead note and comment editor of the Journal of Law and Commerce and as a teaching assistant for a first-year legal writing class.  She also participated in the Neighborhood Legal Services Clinic. 

 

Memberships and Affiliations

Ms. Scott is admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar, and is a member of the Allegheny and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. She is a member of the Northern Appalachian Landman’s Association, YPE Pittsburgh and the Women’s Energy Network Appalachian Chapter. Ms. Scott currently serves on the North Hills Community Outreach scholarship committee and is a volunteer for NHCO’s Ask the Attorney Program.
