David White is a shareholder in the Construction Services and Litigation Services Groups of Babst Calland. Mr. White concentrates his practice on construction and commercial litigation.
Mr. White’s construction experience includes representing contractors, subcontractors, design engineers and project owners in disputes involving steel mills, industrial furnaces, airplane hangars, airports, shopping centers, utilities, hospitals, commercial buildings, schools, churches and retail complexes. He has handled a wide array of construction disputes and issues from mechanics’ liens and breach of contract/delay claims, to product defect/construction accident suits, to the general negotiation of contracts.
His commercial litigation experience includes the representation of a Performing Rights Licensing Organization in copyright infringement actions brought against establishments which provide musical entertainment in violation of the U.S. Copyright Laws, premises liability defense litigation and products liability defense litigation.
Mr. White has tried cases in state and federal trial courts and before government agencies. He has appeared before the Pennsylvania Superior Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Mr. White has also represented clients in alternative dispute resolution forums, such as AAA arbitration and mediation.
Background
Mr. White graduated from Yale University with a B.A. degree in 1987. He received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1990, where he was a member of the Law Review.
Memberships and Affiliations
Mr. White is a member of the Construction Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association. He has been recognized as one of Pennsylvania’s top lawyers since 2007, according to an annual survey published in Philadelphia magazine. Martindale-Hubbell has bestowed a peer review rating of AV on Mr. White.
Mr. White is a Fellow of the Temple University Academy of Advocacy. He is also active in his community, with the United Way, and with the Yale Club of Pittsburgh.
