Heather Heidelbaugh is a shareholder in the Litigation Services Group of Babst Calland. Her practice primarily focuses on litigation: commercial, complex, intellectual property, tort and product liability and election law.
Background
Ms. Heidelbaugh received her B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she also earned her J.D. She was a member of the Order of Barristers, the winner of the law school’s National Moot Court competition, a member and finalist of the Regional Moot Court Team and elected Best Oral Advocate.
Memberships and Affiliations
Ms. Heidelbaugh is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Missouri and Illinois. She is an active member of many community and legal organizations. Ms. Heidelbaugh received Allegheny County’s first Pro Bono award for starting a legal clinic for the homeless. She is past chair of the Civil Litigation Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association, past editor of the Civil Litigation Newsletter, a past president of its Young Lawyers Section and an Allegheny County Bar Foundation Fellow. Ms. Heidelbaugh is an ex-officio board member of the Allegheny Institute. Ms. Heidelbaugh is Co-Chair of the National Republican Lawyer’s Association. She was elected to the Academy of Trial Lawyers, an invitation only, select group of trial lawyers. Ms. Heidelbaugh has also been named a Fellow and Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Litigation Counsel of America, a national trial lawyer honorary society that includes for Fellowship less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. She has been consistently recognized as one of Pennsylvania’s top lawyers, according to an annual survey published in Philadelphia magazine. In 2008 and 2010, the same survey acknowledged
Ms. Heidelbaugh for her business litigation practice, listing her in a special corporate counsel edition. She has a preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Ms. Heidelbaugh appeared weekly for four years on WQED-TV as a panelist on “Off Q,” a public affairs program in Pittsburgh and is a regular commentator and host on local television in regard to politics, law and elections. In addition, she has been interviewed and quoted by The Wall Street Journal; ABC World News Tonight; CNN; American Spectator; The New York Times; the Washington Times; Politico; the National Law Journal and Investors Business Daily, among others.
Ms. Heidelbaugh has lectured at Harvard Law School on Election Law; and testified before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties. Ms. Heidelbaugh also spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and has appeared on Fox News, including The Factor with Bill O’Reilly. In May of 2011, she was won election to Allegheny County Council for the At-Large Position. Her four-year term will begin in January of 2012.
