Jean Mosites is an associate in the Environmental, Health and Safety and Public Sector Services Groups of Babst Calland. Her practice focuses primarily on client counseling on environmental compliance in the energy sector, as well as resolving liabilities under federal and state remediation programs. Ms. Mosites has assisted clients responding to agency requests for information and notices of violation issued under Pennsylvania’s Oil and Gas Act, Clean Streams Law, and Solid Waste Management Act, as well as federal statutes including the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act. She advises clients on regulatory matters encountered in the development of the Marcellus Shale, including water sourcing, handling and disposal, gas migration investigations, and site restoration obligations. She also practices before the Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board on a variety of matters, including appeals from permits and compliance orders.
Background
Ms. Mosites graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1990 with a B.A. in Political Science and in 1995 with a M.A. in International Relations. She graduated magna cum laude from Duquesne University School of Law in 2007, where she was the Executive Comment Editor for Duquesne Law Review and a top ten semifinalist in the Carol Los Mansmann Oral Argument Competition. Ms. Mosites interned with the Honorable D. Michael Fisher in 2005 and the Honorable Joy Flowers Conti in 2007. Prior to joining Babst Calland she worked for a large international law firm, where she practiced regulatory law and also advised clients in the aviation industry regarding compliance with domestic and international aviation standards. Ms. Mosites also maintained a litigation practice, which included appellate brief submissions to the Third Circuit and to the United States Supreme Court. She served on Peters Township’s Council from 1999 until 2004, representing the home-rule community at-large, serving as the vice chair and sitting on pension and grievance committees.

Ms. Mosites is admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. She is a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations.
