Area of Emphasis
Jennifer Bierly, a Centre County native, is a shareholder in the Litigation Services Group of Babst Calland. She focuses her practice in the area of family law, representing clients in courts across the Commonwealth. On a daily basis, Ms. Bierly helps clients during some of the most difficult times in their lives, assisting them with their legal needs in divorce, custody, support, protection from abuse, adoption and guardianship matters. Prior to joining Babst Calland in the Spring of 2010, she represented clients in her own Centre County law firm. Ms. Bierly has practiced law in Pennsylvania since 1999, having spent a portion of that time serving the citizens of Centre County as an Assistant District Attorney. She is also a former law clerk to Senior Judge Charles C. Brown, Jr., former President Judge of the Centre County Court of Common Pleas.
Background
Ms. Bierly received her B.A. in Urban Affairs, summa cum laude, from The Virginia Polytechnic University and State University in 1994. In 1997, she earned her J.D. from The University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where she received recognition for excellence in oral advocacy as a member of the Order of the Barristers. Ms. Bierly is also a 2003 graduate of Leadership Centre County. Ms. Bierly gained valuable experience representing high-net worth clients throughout Western Pennsylvania in complex family law matters while working at a downtown Pittsburgh boutique family law firm in 2003 and 2004.
Memberships and Affiliations
Ms. Bierly is a member of the Centre County, Pennsylvania and Arizona Bar Associations. She is also a member of the Domestic Relations Section of the Centre County Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and The Women in the Profession Commission of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. She is a past-President of the Board of Directors of Centre County’s Outstanding Young Woman Program, Inc., and she currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Child Development and Family Council. Ms. Bierly previously enjoyed teaching Business Writing for the Continuing Education Department of The Pennsylvania State University and Criminal Law and Procedure for Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. She provides pro bono legal services to, and is a member of, The Working K-9 Association of Central Pennsylvania. Ms. Bierly is also a member of the Central Pennsylvania Golden Retriever Rescue.
In 2006, Ms. Bierly was recognized by The Pennsylvania Business Central as being one of the top 100 People in Business, and she was featured in the same publication as one of the “Top Four Under Forty” in business. In 2008, Ms. Bierly was recognized as one of Pennsylvania’s best up-and-coming lawyers according to a survey published in Philadelphia magazine. She is also a past recipient of the award for Outstanding Community Service by an Attorney from the State College Area Jaycees.
