Area of Emphasis
Jessica Tully is an associate in the Business Services Group and is part of the multi-disciplinary Energy and Natural Resource Group of Babst Calland. Ms. Tully’s practice focuses on general corporate transactions, analyzing oil and gas title defects, and suggesting cures for said defects.
Background
Before joining the firm, Ms. Tully owned and operated an oil and gas title abstracting company based in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania that provided comprehensive oil and gas title abstracts to local natural resource development companies. She also conducted legal research for and provided legal assistance to various natural resource development companies in north central and north western Pennsylvania on issues related to oil, gas, and mineral ownership and development under the Allegheny National Forest.
Ms. Tully received her undergraduate degree in 2005 from Miami University, earning a B.A. in Political Science and History. She earned her J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 2008. While at Duquesne, Ms. Tully served as the Executive Editor of the Duquesne Law Review and published a case note on issues of military and international law therein. While in law school, she served as an intern for the Honorable Joy Flowers Conti, the Honorable Lisa Pupo Lenihan, and the Honorable Jeffrey A. Deller. Ms. Tully competed in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Appellate Moot Court Competition on the topic The Tension between Ensuring Human Rights and Responding to Acts of Terrorism and was inducted into the Louis L. Mandarino Honor Society for outstanding contributions to and achievements in an appellate moot court competition. Additionally, she received a CALI Excellence for Future Award in International Law.
Memberships and Affiliations
Ms. Tully is admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar and is a member of the Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations. She is also a member of the Northern Appalachian Landman's Association and the Energy Bar Association. Ms. Tully is a volunteer with the Crossroads Foundation, a non-profit foundation dedicated to helping at-risk inner city youth graduate from high school and go on to higher educational opportunities. She also routinely participates as a judge for Odyssey of the Mind, an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college.
