Kate H. Cooper

Area of Emphasis

Kate Cooper is a shareholder in the Corporate and Commercial and Emerging Technologies groups of Babst Calland. Ms. Cooper’s practice includes counseling both for-profit and non-profit entities in connection with mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. She provides advice to clients on a broad range of general corporate matters, including business planning and structuring, commercial contracts, securities law matters and governance issues.

Background

Ms. Cooper graduated from the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State University in 2007, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Communication Arts and Sciences. She received her J.D. from Boston College Law School in 2010, where she graduated cum laude. At Boston College, Ms. Cooper served as a Note Editor for the Boston College Law Review. She interned at Greater Boston Legal Services and served as an extern staff attorney at the Lawyers Alliance for New York. Prior to joining Babst Calland, Ms. Cooper practiced as an associate in the corporate group of law firms in both New York and Pittsburgh.

Memberships and Affiliations

Ms. Cooper is admitted to the bars of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New York, and is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association.  She was selected to the Pennsylvania Rising Stars list (Thomson Reuters) in 2023.
