Area of Emphasis

Mark Lindsay is a shareholder in the Creditors Rights and Insolvency Practice Group of Babst Calland. Since joining the firm in 2002, Mr. Lindsay has focused his practice in the areas of bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, commercial and residential real estate, and general commercial litigation. He has regularly represented lenders, municipal entities, utility providers, commercial and residential landlords, consumer finance companies and various other creditor entities in a wide range of creditors’ rights matters, both in and out of the bankruptcy context. Mr. Lindsay has represented secured and unsecured creditors in Chapter 11, Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings in many jurisdictions throughout the United States and has significant experience representing defendants in preference litigation and other bankruptcy litigation matters. He also regularly represents lenders and other lien holders in various execution actions, including sheriff’s sale and foreclosure proceedings in many of the counties throughout Western Pennsylvania. In addition, Mr. Lindsay has significant real estate title work experience and has represented both buyers and sellers in commercial and residential real estate transactions.

Background

Mr. Lindsay received a Bachelors of Science in Business and Accounting from the University of Pittsburgh in 1995. After graduation, he spent more than six years at one of Pittsburgh’s major financial institutions, where he worked first as an accountant and then as a manager in the Trust Division. Mr. Lindsay graduated cum laude from Duquesne University School of Law, earning his J.D. in 2002. While in law school, Mr. Lindsay was a member of the Duquesne Law Review, earned the Duquesne University Law Faculty Scholarship for Excellence twice, and on four occasions received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award.

Memberships and Affiliations

Mr. Lindsay was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 2002 and is a member of the Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. In 2008, Mr. Lindsay became a Council Member in the Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association and was elected to the position of Secretary in the Section in 2011.  He is also a member of the Real Property Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association and of the Western District of Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Inn of Court.  Mr. Lindsay has also served as an elected member of the Building Board of Appeals for the Borough of Franklin Park, Pennsylvania since 2010. He has been recognized as one of Pennsylvania’s up-and-coming lawyers each year since 2005, according to an annual survey published in Philadelphia magazine.
