Area of Emphasis
Bob Thomson focuses his practice in the area of Environmental, Health and Safety law. He is a former chairman of the Environmental, Mineral and Natural Resources Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and he has advised commercial, industrial, mining and municipal clients on how to operate in compliance with federal, state and local regulations, and defended their interests in enforcement actions. The wide-ranging nature of his practice has taken him before specialized environmental tribunals and agencies in many states.
Background
Mr. Thomson received his B.A. from Florida State University in 1964, and he graduated summa cum laude with a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law. He has appeared on panels at numerous seminars and co-authored Pennsylvania Environmental Law and Practice by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
Memberships and Affiliations
Mr. Thomson was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1970 and admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1976. Presently, he is a member of the Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and Ohio State Bar Associations, their environmental law sections, and the PBA Professionals Committee. Mr. Thomson is a member of the Environmental Committees of both the Pennsylvania Independent Oil and Gas Association (PIOGA) and the Ohio Oil and Gas Association (OOGA). Since 2007, he has been ranked among Pennsylvania’s top environmental lawyers in Chambers USA’s America’s Leading Business Lawyers. In 2004, Mr. Thomson was recognized as one of Pennsylvania’s best lawyers according to an annual survey published in Philadelphia magazine.
