This year, the Breast Cancer Cure Zone is pleased to support Adagio Health.
Founded in 1971, Adagio Health operates medical offices throughout the 23 counties of western Pennsylvania, serving more than 80,000 women each year. Adagio Health provides essential health care services that include annual exams, prenatal care and breast and cervical cancer screening. Additionally, Adagio Health’s ancillary services serve more than 100,000 people annually and include nutrition education for school students, preventive health education and outreach, the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Supplemental Nutrition program, community education, transitional housing, adoption services and applied research. Funding comes from federal and state grants, patient fees, and foundation, corporate, and individual contributions.
Babst Calland’s contribution will support Adagio Health’s breast cancer screening efforts which include providing mammograms, clinical breast exams, breast self-exam education and diagnostic follow up testing as needed for uninsured and underinsured women in western Pennsylvania. Currently about 1 in 10 PA women are uninsured. The women who access Adagio Health’s cancer screening services often would otherwise go without the very screenings that can save their lives. As we know, breast cancer is most treatable with early detection. Due to state budget cuts this year, the cancer screening program is in critical need of additional funds. The number of women in need of assistance is expected to grow due to difficult economic times.
Babst Calland will present their contribution at Adagio Health’s Hot Pink Pittsburgh event on October 12 at the Byham Theater. Hot Pink Pittsburgh is a sizzling evening of music and dance which raises funds for breast and cervical cancer screening for women in western Pennsylvania.
