Starting salaries for first year associates are competitive in the local marketplace. Starting salary for first year associates effective January 2010 is $100,000. Associates also participate in a discretionary bonus pool based on exceptional performance during the year.Additionally, the firm offers a generous benefits package, including a large portion of health insurance premiums (i.e., 70%), dental, 401(k) with generous matching, short and long term disability, life insurance, and a pre-tax commuter plan. The firm also pays all professional membership dues for the various bar associations, and for all continuing legal education requirements. The firm also provides mobile smart phones with full broadband capability. Summer associates are paid a pro-rata portion of the first year salary. In addition, summer associates who accept an offer of full-time employment are paid a stipend during the summer they take the bar exam. The firm also pays for two bar review courses, all bar application fees, and all fees associated with the MPRE. Monetary compensation is only part of the overall benefit of being a member of the Babst Calland team. The firm prides itself on hiring people who enjoy working with each other.
