James D. (JD) Mazzocco

Area of Emphasis

JD Mazzocco is an associate in the Litigation, Construction, and Transportation Safety groups of Babst Calland. His litigation experience includes assisting individual and corporate clients in both prosecuting and defending a variety of matters, including complex environmental and oil and gas disputes, conflicts between shareholders in closely-held businesses, premises liability actions, and disputes regarding the construction and purchase of residential dwellings.

His construction experience includes representing contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, and project owners in a variety of construction-related disputes, including lien claims under Pennsylvania’s Mechanics’ Lien Law, construction defect claims, differing site condition claims, delay and inefficiency claims, and payment and contract performance disputes.

Mr. Mazzocco also assists owners and operators of pipeline facilities in matters relating to regulatory compliance, internal audits, due diligence, enforcement, and litigation.

Background

Mr. Mazzocco received his B.A. in English and a minor in Chemistry, cum laude, from Gettysburg College in 2011.

Mr. Mazzocco received his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 2014. During his law school career, he served as an intern at several law firms in the Pittsburgh area, worked as a teaching assistant, and was an award-winning individual and team member of Duquesne University’s Appellate Moot Court Board.

Memberships and Affiliations

Mr. Mazzocco is admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar and United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association. Mr. Mazzocco has been named to the Pennsylvania Rising Star list since 2018.
