SUMMARY:EMLF’s 46th Annual Institute
DESCRIPTION:Babst Calland joins the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation (EMLF) for its 46th Annual Institute\, June 8-10\, 2025. \nLitigation Attorney Kathy Condo will serve as a panelist for “A Deep Dive in to Class Action and Multidistrict Litigation.” This panel will look at how the rise of class action and multidistrict litigation has impacted not only the energy industry\, but other industries that have similarly been influenced by this litigation strategy.  They will examine the way the industries have changed in response\, and the practical realities of management of a class action matter including payouts\, class settlement\, attorneys’ fees and more. \nCorporate and Commercial Attorney Moore Capito will present “Powering Data Centers.” Data center is fast becoming a household term. Nearly everyone in the modern world benefits from data centers. As the “backbone” of digital infrastructure\, data centers are becoming more and more critical in meeting the demands of the modern digital world. With advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and the increased reliance on computing by people all over the world\, demand for data centers is outpacing supply. We are in a global modern-day gold rush to build data centers. And just as the 49ers faced infrastructure challenges of the day\, data center developers are facing a critical infrastructure obstacle: energy. \nFor more information\, click here. \nKathy Condo \nMoore Capito

SUMMARY:AWMA's 118th Annual Conference and Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Babst Calland joins the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) for its 118th Annual Conference and Exhibition\, June 10-12\, 2025. As the premier global event for environmental management\, technology\, and regulation\, ACE 2025 will address critical topics such as new regulations and policy\, air monitoring and measurements\, clean technology\, sustainable energy futures\, PFAS\, green transportation solutions\, and ESG approaches and reporting. Hot topics include the environmental impact of electric vehicles and battery energy storage\, impacts of AI and data centers\, the use of satellite data for air quality and emissions assessments\, and the future of hydrogen as a fuel. \nEnvironmental Attorney Gary Steinbauer will serve as a panel co-chair and panelist for “Air Permitting Programs – Federal and State Implementation Perspectives.” The air permitting programs are implemented under the cooperative federalism paradigm per the Clean Air Act. With the change in administration\, significant changes are expected at EPA OAQPS pertaining to staffing and policy objectives. EPA is also likely to push more obligations to states and local agencies for air programs. A panel of experts will discuss key developments in cooperative federalism\, and detail experiences and future changes that may affect the permitting agencies and the regulated community. \nFor more information\, click here.
