Nicole Vasquez Schmitt is an associate in the Litigation Services, Employment & Labor Services, and Energy & Natural Resources groups of Babst Calland. Ms. Schmitt focuses her practice in the areas of general commercial and environmental litigation, as well representing business entities in employment disputes. Ms. Schmitt also has extensive experience in financial restructuring, securities, and entertainment litigation. She has achieved successful results for clients in state, federal and appellate courts as well as in alternative dispute resolution forums.

Background

Ms. Schmitt graduated with honors from Carnegie Mellon University with a BFA in Vocal Performance. She received her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law, magna cum laude. While in law school, Ms. Schmitt was an Associate Editor of the Hofstra Law Review, a Herbert Wechsler National Criminal Law Moot Court Competition Quarterfinalist, the Latino Law Students Association Networking Chair and recipient of a Citation of Excellence in the Housing Rights Clinical Course.

Prior to joining Babst Calland, Ms. Schmitt litigated in New York City at a large international firm and represented clients in state and federal courts throughout the country on a variety of corporate matters, including financial restructuring, reinsurance/insurance, securities and entertainment law.
