Timothy A. Schoonover

Area of Emphasis

Tim Schoonover is a shareholder in the Energy and Natural Resources, Litigation and Public Sector groups of Babst Calland. Mr. Schoonover has practiced law in the Centre County region since 1997 in both private practice and the corporate setting. He currently serves as Solicitor for Haines Township, and is the former Solicitor to Benner Township and counsel to AccuWeather, Inc. Mr. Schoonover has significant experience with Marcellus Shale related issues, including contract matters and land use litigation issues. His practice also includes the areas of real estate, corporate/business law, municipal law, litigation, estate planning and estate administration. Mr. Schoonover routinely handles cases throughout central Pennsylvania as well as the northern tier of Pennsylvania.

Background

Mr. Schoonover is a 1986 graduate of Troy Area High School, Troy, Pennsylvania, a 1990 graduate of Cornell University with a degree in Business Administration and a 1995 graduate of the Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law. He began his legal career in Bradford County, Pennsylvania and regularly practiced in Bradford, Tioga, Lycoming and Sullivan counties before moving to Centre County in 1997.

Memberships and Affiliations

Mr. Schoonover was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1995. He is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Mr. Schoonover is a member of the Centre County and Pennsylvania Bar associations. He has served on the Board of Governors and is a past Secretary for the Centre County Bar Association.

Mr. Schoonover is a past member of the State College Jaycees, having served as Community Development Vice President in 1999-2000 and on the Board of Directors. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Infant Evaluation Program, serving as Board President in 2003-2004; Habitat for Humanity of Greater Centre County, serving as Board President in 2009-2010; and the Centre County Housing and Land Trust, where he served as President. Additionally, Mr. Schoonover currently serves as a Board Member of the YMCA of Centre County, where he served as Board President.
