Benjamin A. Kift

Area of Emphasis

Benjamin Kift is an associate in Babst Calland’s Litigation and Construction groups. Mr. Kift focuses his practice on complex construction and commercial litigation matters.

Mr. Kift represents contractors, subcontractors, owners, developers, design professionals, and construction companies in a broad range of matters arising from complex construction and development projects. He has extensive experience with Pennsylvania’s Mechanics’ Lien Law, and routinely prosecutes and defends lien claims. Mr. Kift also represents clients in breach of contract claims and payment disputes, and regularly appears before Pennsylvania state and federal courts. Additionally, he advises clients in the review, drafting, and negotiation of construction contracts.

Background

Mr. Kift graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in English in 2009. He received his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 2017.

Memberships and Affiliations

Mr. Kift is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar associations. Mr. Kift received a Best Lawyers®: Ones to Watch recognition from BL Rankings for Commercial Litigation for 2024. He was also selected to the Pennsylvania Rising Stars list (Thomson Reuters) in 2023.
