Peter J. Landau

Peter Landau is an associate in Babst Calland’s Corporate and Commercial and Emerging Technologies practice groups. He advises clients across a variety of industries on a broad range of corporate and commercial legal matters, including mergers and acquisitions, commercial contracts, corporate structuring and governance, and general corporate and business counseling.
Prior to joining Babst Calland, Mr. Landau advised U.S.- and foreign-based companies on domestic and international tax matters, including international, M&A, state and local, and renewable energy tax credits.
Representative Experience
- Assisted with post-acquisition IP integration by establishing an intercompany transaction structure and implementing it through intercompany agreements, including a license agreement, research and development agreements, SaaS agreement, and various services agreements.
- Analyzed energy projects and qualified facilities to opine on eligibility for the Section 45 renewable electricity production credit and Section 48 energy credit, along with conducting due diligence on the transferability of such credits.
- Drafted legal opinions relating to a new production facility for battery energy storage system components regarding eligibility for clean energy tax credits, including analysis of proposed manufacturing activities for the domestic content adder and compliance with rules relating to material assistance from prohibited foreign entities.
Background
Mr. Landau received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame in 2019, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2022, earning the James Kent Scholar recognition for outstanding academic achievement. While at Columbia Law School, Mr. Landau served as an articles editor for the Columbia Journal of Tax Law. He also earned the 2021 Columbia Public Interest Honoree award for exceptional dedication to public interest or public service law while at Columbia Law School.

Mr. Landau is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and California. He is not admitted to practice in Pennsylvania. Mr. Landau is currently supervised by members of the Firm who are admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar.
